School Uniform
The school has a simple and practical uniform which all children should wear. This ensures that children are dressed in a safe, suitable, and smart manner, ready for learning and school activities. Wearing a uniform helps create a sense of equality among pupils, reducing distractions or pressure related to clothing choices, and fosters a sense of pride and belonging as part of the Downs Junior School community. It also makes it easier to identify our pupils when on trips or around the local area, enhancing their safety.
Parents and carers are expected to support the school by ensuring their children come to school in the correct uniform.

Children have PE twice a week, and should wear uniform suitable for PE, including footwear.
No jewellery can be worn for PE lessons (this includes earrings or studs). Long hair must be tied back. These are important safety measures which we are required to enforce. If studs cannot be removed it is essential they are covered with micropore tape – please ensure you provide this.
