Sports Premium Funding

The Govenment currently provide a grant for every school to use to promote health and well being through our children taking part in a range of physical activities. Here at Catsfield we use the money in a variety of ways.

Every week two classes are coached by Pass and Move in a range of sport which progressively builds their knowledge and skills. They use a range resources in their leanring as well as working inside and outside of the school.

The other two classes take part in dance and gymnastics delivered by Funk Fusion. Again they build on their knowledge and skills as they work with their teachers.

In the following term the classes will swap over. This means every child has access to a wide range of professional coaching and experiences.

Our teachers take part in all these lessons and use the session as their own development as PE teachers.

We also use the money in other ways to provide opportunities for our children to learn new skills and be as physical as they can.

  • After school clubs (some of these are now paid for by parents and carers)
  • Preparation and attendance at Time to Dance- an interschool show where at least fifteen schools join together to create a dance spectacular perfomed at Hastings White Rock Theatre
  • Attendance at a range of tournaments-football, rubgy, netball, cross-country running.
  • Supporting swimming (in our school this is with our Year 4 and 5 pupils during Term 6)
  • Resources for teaching a range of sporting activities
  • Breaktime activity equipment to help our children to be engaged and active together
  • Training for staff such as Orienteering
