Collective Worship

Our Christian Value this term is Love. We will be looking closely at this value over the next 6 week period. The children will think carefully about what Love means to them and how it impacts on their daily lives. We will look at some key Biblical stories which cover this value and reflect on the big question:  Who Should We Love?

Bible Ref:  1 Corinthians 13:4-5 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

The school community engages in a daily act of worship with enthusiastic singing, reverence in prayer time and participation by the children, both planned and spontaneous.  We have adopted a variety of strategies to present worship, e.g. interactive, children involved, class-led, Stargazers, outside/church member-led. Worship takes place in class, in the hall, in church and even outside.  Great value and importance is placed on worship as a school; all staff members attend and parents are invited to attend church worship and worship in school where their children are leading. We are incredibly lucky to have our local Reverend visiting us weekly on a Thursday where he and his wife lead the school act of worship.

Collective Worship enables both adults and children to understand the importance of prayer through its modelling in worship. This is developed further through prayer within the classroom and time for reflection throughout our curriculum.
