Our Intention at Wadhurst CE Primary School is To deliver an inclusive, engaging and memorable curriculum, which bridges differences, opens minds and fosters critical thinking in all our learners.
Teaching and Learning at Wadhurst follows the learning objectives set out in the National Curriculum for pupils in Year 1 - 6 and the framework for Early Years Foundation Stage pupils. At Wadhurst we use SoundsWrite to teach phonics and Spellings.
Throughout the school English is taught through Talk for Writing and Maths is taught through Powermaths.

We are currently redesigning much of our curriculum to ensure a clear progression of knowledge across the school. Therefore some areas will be updated as we continue to reflect on and develop our plans based on research and whole school need.

Curriculum Enrichment
At Wadhurst we believe in offering a curriculum to all pupils that is ambitious and one that is designed to provide the children with the skills and knowledge in all subjects of the National Curriculum.
We offer a variety of sports whilst the children move through the school such as swimming, hockey, Netball and gymnastics as well as the opportunity to compete against other schools in the local area throughout the year. Our teachers are provided with excellent CPD opportunities through partnerships with Uplands Community College to ensure pupils make good progress and build on the skills they have previously learnt.
Children are offered great musical enrichment throughout their time at Wadhurst with lots of opportunities to learn a musical instrument. In Key Stage 2 the children have the opportunity to take part in school productions and Key Stage 1 do the Christmas Nativity. In addition to this our popular choir have taken part in various competitions and each year take part in Young Voices at the O2.
French is taught across the whole school and is extremely popular with all pupils. As part of our collective worships children are also encouraged to use Makaton and British Sign Language.
In Year 6 pupils go on a school residential for a week, which both the children and adults alike always love!
